Description

The Imperial District
The picturesque Imperial District is one of the 3 mostly visited tourist areas in Poznań. It was built in the early 20th century when Poznań was still under German control. Its dominant feature is the grand Imperial Castle built as a residence for the emperor Wilhelm II Hohenzollern. Today a cultural center, in the past however not a very welcome symbol of foreign domination. Other surrounding buildings represent neo-historical styles, making the district a very attractive and picturesque area for photography.
