Tour of Poznań Cathedral… and more

The Cathedral Island in Poznań is a silent witness of a thousand-year-old history of the city and Poland itself. It is here that Mieszko I – the first Christian duke of Poland – had his stone palace built with a fortified settlement. In 968 the construction of the catherdral starts, making it the oldest cathedral in Poland. This is the main theme of the tour Roots of Poznań – a tour around the very beginnings of the Polish state.

1
Church of St. Mary

The site of great importance to Poles - the very location of  the first Christian temple on the Polish soil.

2
Cathedral of Poznań

The oldest cathedral in Poland dating back to the year 968 - the very beginnings of Poland itself. This is where first Polish Christians were baptised.

3
The Golden Chapel

Old Market Square and more

Having explored the Cathedral Island, we will take you to the Old Market Square – the most representative part of the city. This is where the famous Poznań Billy Goats appear twice a day.

4
Town Hall with billy goats

Dubbed "the most beautiful Renaissance building north of the Alps" - today the Town Hall is the no 1. icon of the city famous for its clock mechanism: the Poznań billy goats. (showing up at noon and 3pm)
